What is a ‘webinar’, and why should I sign up for one?
Do you ever see announcements for presentations that interest you, and think, “If only I could get there”? Webinars are an internet-based way to connect to people and information from your home or office computer, or even your phone. We have parents and professionals tuning in from Austin, Texas, (where the presentations originate) and far-away places like Japan and Dubai, all with the same easy steps, and without charge.

The Johnson Center uses an interface called GoToMeeting. If you receive emails from The Johnson Center, or are connected to us through Facebook or Twitter, you will get an invitation to register for upcoming webinars at least one week before. If you are interested in attending you’ll be asked to give your name, email address, state, and country. We then send you a confirmation email with a link to connect at the announced time of the webinar. (Additionally, you will be sent an email one hour prior to the presentation as a reminder that it will soon begin.) Any information that you submit is confidential and will not be shared outside of The Johnson Center.  We suggest that on your first webinar you log in at least five minutes before, as it takes a few minutes to install the application on your computer.

These webinars are an opportunity for parents and professionals to gain access to our chosen presenters, who usually must charge for their time. As an attendee you will be muted throughout the presentation, but you can submit typed questions that can be answered during or after the presentation.

Our Community Outreach Department works hard to provide interesting and beneficial topics for our audience, enlisting experienced professionals both from within The Johnson Center and outside of our organization. We welcome any feedback and suggestions for future topics or presenters; please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). All of the webinars at the Johnson Center are held from 12:00n-1:00pm Central Standard Time, so please note your time difference if you are outside of this time zone. This time frame is chosen as many of our visiting speakers are donating their time during their lunch hour to participate and past survey results have shown the majority of parents prefer daytime presentations while their children are in school.
